Pen & Ink App

Free on the Apple App Store, this is my favorite app for “pencil” sketching. While I still prefer the many other options that accompany the paid (of course) version of Sketch Club and the easy functionality of Sketches (free), I find myself coming back to this simplistic app for casual brainstorming and practice.

I have to say that I like sketching in this app more than I do in my traditional, bound sketchbook. Here’s why:

  • No other app I’ve used (and I’ve downloaded/tried/deleted many) has such smooth, realistic tracking with the use of a standard stylus (see The Friendly Swede stylus photo below).
  • Its undo/redo buttons makes changes easy if you’re a beginner learning to draw or someone who hasn’t drawn anything in a while!
  • Easy pinch zoom without change in tool size (I bring this up because I’ve encountered the issue of trying to make tiny, tweaks here and there in other apps and ended up with a line thicker than my initial zoomed-out drawing.
  • Traceable layer (just import a pic and it automatically sets to transparent so you can draw over it)
  • Ready-to-use color palettes and customizable palette (not unique to this app but still nice)

Minor drawback (not so unique either):

  • I layer only. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it appears that extra layers are locked until you get the paid version.

…which is why I sketch only lol. Luckily, you can import the rough to your camera roll and open in another app if you want to color in multiple layers.

🌿🌿🌿Here are the styluses mentioned above. You can buy them off Amazon. They’re really great for the price! And the colors are gorgeous!

Korean Sheet Masks Haul: Dermal

IMG_1952
Just can’t get enough of these!
I indulged myself with these sheet masks while I was in Chinatown. What better way to anticipate the next four years of my graduate career? These babies are gonna get me through the sleepless nights and frantic cram sessions.

The headline of my thoughts: “Oh my gosh. I’m going to be broke.”But in reality, it’s a small investment for my soon-to-be-needed de-stress, me-time sessions. You see, some days I just wake up feeling and looking hideous for a variety of reasons and self-care is how I recenter again. Whatever my reasons, I’m sure you have your own for favoring these quick fixes because why else would you be reading this?😜

Of this stash I got from a Korean skincare boutique (top) and Hmart grocery store

Reality is scary

Boy, what a day. Last night, we turned our clocks ahead one hour and chaos ensues. I wake up after four hours of sleep with fever and chills, stumble to Mass (don’t worry, there’s a designated driver: brother), fumble at work doing the oddest and nonsensical things… Then, to cap it off, my brother drops me off at home early after my little cousins’ birthday party because I’m feeling totally pooped and then he returns to the party.Β Next thing you know, there’s an odd series of knocks on my bathroom door while I’m showering.Β  Continue reading “Reality is scary”

Dads

Fathers. They come in many shapes and personalities.

My dad is a pretty tough guy who loves his house plants like his own kids. He nearly cried when he saw how I pruned the kumquat tree. πŸ˜₯

DIY Upcycled Wine Case to Vase Cover

Do you ever notice how nice wine packaging is? It seems an awful waste to just chuck those sturdy decorative boxes and cylinder cases. Why not make it into something new?πŸ˜€

You’ll need:

  • Matte mod podge
  • craft brush
  • scrapbook paper
  • scissors/paper trimmer
  • a pen (forgot to include it in the picture) and your empty wine case.

Korean Diamond V Mask Review

My month pack of the Diamond V Mask kit just came in yesterday and I am super psyched to try it out and see the results for myself. What is the Diamond V Mask, you ask?

FullSizeRender-3.jpg

It’s a cosmetic/beauty mask and band to help you achieve a more slender and delicate jaw-line. Why would women (or men, because some men do use it) want to achieve this shape rather than be happy with their original shape? Continue reading “Korean Diamond V Mask Review”
